                ‘The Girl Next Door’ by Arpit Vageria is a book that revolves around Ishaan who is an RJ by profession. One day he receives a call from his parents when they tell him to back home due to the onset of this virus called ‘Aquavirus’. But Ishaan has no plans to go back to those memories where his parents had separated or as they call it a ‘mutual separation’ to his brother who also two divorces. But then his mother too is adamant on getting her son back and ends up blackmailing her with her health. Finally he succumbs to his mother’s wish and lands to Bhopal where nothing seems to have changed. One day while spending some time on terrace with his friends he happens to notice a girl who was dancing and he falls head over heels for this girl. Ishaan who was thinking about how he is going to spend his three weeks in Bhopal finally gets a motive to stay back. When will Ishaan get to know this mystery girl? Who is this girl? My Thoughts:

                The plot is interesting. When this pandemic hit all over the world people were just not ready to accept what is happening and then the sudden lockdown there was a rush to stock as much necessities as possible. I must say that the author has nicely described the events and the feelings that we people were going through.

                The characters are well developed. One thing that while reading should come to the mind of the readers is that however flawed our family relations are but they are our family and during hard times they are surely the first ones to stand for us. After looking at Ishaan’s family this was the first thing that came to my mind.

               Language is simple and lucid. I really loved the narration which makes it all the more appealing to read the story. While reading the book I also liked the third person POV which is right at the starting and ending of each chapter which made me feel as if the author is actually conversing with the readers and asking them to contemplate on a situation and then starting the story on the same lines is a very interesting concept.

                The cover page is simple yet beautiful and is apt to the plot. The title of the book is also apt to the plot.

                Overall, I really enjoyed this story and would surely recommend it to everyone.
