Marigold - The Golden Memories | Book Review
Marigold the golden memories
Author: Manali Debroy
Pages: 118
‘Marigold
– The Golden Memories’ by Manali Debroy is a collection of 18 short stories
each of which is unique in its own way. Each story has some or the other
message hidden in it. Each story will gives the readers a vivid experience of how
relationships should be like, how happiness is not only about earning money,
etc. I really loved all the stories but a few are very close to my heart. To
know all these interesting stories read ‘Marigold – The Golden Memories’.
My
Opinions:
I loved all the stories in the
book. The book is very short and the readers can read it in one sitting. All
the stories encircle around love, family, desires and life. I have read a few
short stories previously and I surely enjoyed this a lot.
The author has done a brilliant
work with all the characters. Even though it is a collection of short stories
the characters are well developed and have their own personality. Which we can
easily relate to like in one of the story the character wanted to give his
finance all the things in the world. And for that he is mostly busy in earning
money gradually neglecting/ignoring their beautiful relationship. We somehow
get to see these instances in real life too. Each has their own strengths and
weaknesses.
Each story has a unique plot and
each story is ended well. The author has done a brilliant work by writing the stories
in such a way that the readers will be guessing what happen next.
The writing style of the author
is impressive. The stories are written in a simple and lucid language and the
readers can easily go through the book without any difficulty. The flow of the
stories are perfect.
Some of my favourite stories
are:
·
One
Wine Day
·
A
Premonition or a Dream?
·
Knock
at 1 a.m.
·
The
Unattended Kiss
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and
would surely like to read more from the author. I would surely recommend this
book to all.
My Rating: 5/5
