‘Cleopatra had many lives’ by Rakhi Kapoor is a collection of short stories revolving around a pet cat named Cleopatra. Here we get to see the stories of different people from the point of view of Cleopatra. Each story is written in such a manner that we can actually feel the emotions that the characters are going through. The author has nicely described human behaviour and how we tend to behave in different situations.

What I liked the most about these stories:

·         The Third Person POV makes the stories even interesting especially the POV being from the cat

·         The stories end with a beautiful poem which makes the stories really beautiful

·         The stories are character driven and each of these characters are beautifully expressed making them look real life like and relatable

·         I really loved how this cat became an integral part of the family wherever she went and how all these characters shared a loving relationship with her.

Language was simple and lucid and the narration is done beautifully. The cover page and the title of the book is also apt to the plot.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book.
