My Thoughts:
The plot is well written and I must say that the author has vivid imaginations. It is very difficult to create a whole world and give the details about it which has been done excellently. But I also felt that the plot is a bit complex for someone who is new to reading because the events are happening at a very fast pace.
The characters are somewhat relatable especially Ada she is naive but tries her best to convince her mom that she is strong. Enyi is a kind hearted and helps Ada a lot. I also liked the friendship that develops between the three i.e. Ada, Enyi and Mbe. I somehow felt the need to know the characters a little bit more.
Language is simple and lucid. The author has used Igbo language but she has also given the English translation right next to it which makes it easier for us to understand the meaning and the flow of the story also doesn’t get affected. The narration is pretty good and as I earlier mentioned the world building is done beautifully. I found the pace of the story a bit too fast due to which I felt that I had to reread sometimes to avoid confusion.
The book cover is beautiful with the picture of Enyi the elephant and Ada. The title of the book is also apt to the plot.
But overall, it was a very adventurous journey with Ada, Enyi and Mbe and I would surely recommend it to people who love fast paced adventurous stories.
