That is How I Became a Sanyasi
Author: Khemlata Negi
Pages: 266

‘That is How I Became a Sanyasi’ by Khemlata Negi is a story that revolves around Diksha and Gautam. Diksha is a very brilliant girl and loves to study. She didn’t have much friends even when she was a small kid. She didn’t want to share her parent’s love with anybody and hence would not even invite anybody home. Her parents want the best for her and with her determination she gets admitted to an MBA course and later shifts to some other place for job where she’s working wonderfully. Next we have Gautam who is ambitious and for him money is everything and according to him money can buy all the happiness in life. In this ambition of his he spends very little time with his family and which adversely affects him later on. There’s a lot of things that goes on in Diksha and Gautam’s life but will they ever be able to recover from them? How will they overcome from all the obstacles that they have in life? To know this read ‘That is How I Became a Sanyasi’.

The plot is well written and it was worth reading how Diksha and Gautam’s life progress over the pages of the book. The book was very inspiring and will surely teach the readers a lot like it is not good to think negatively with obstacles in life. We must be determined to overcome all the obstacles that life throws at us.

The characters are well developed and I loved Diksha’s character the most. I loved how she is close to her parents and in one instance when her mother tells her that someday even she has to leave to make her career she had cried a lot but then also forgotten about the incidence soon. I loved how both Diksha and Gautam progress and overcome their obstacles.

                Language is simple and lucid.

The book cover is very interesting and the title of the book is also pat to the plot.

Overall, I loved reading this book and I must say that there is a lot to learn from this book.

My rating: 5/5
