‘The
Worlds That Met in Bollywood’ by Manan Goel is a book that revolves around
Anirudh and Yasir. Anirudh comes from a poor family and has big dreams. He is a
big bollywood fan and when he gets a job at a small tapri he becomes a
favourite of all as he entertains the customers with famous dialogues of the
movies. These big dreams and the desire for earning huge amount of money lead
him to a path where he shouldn’t be. Next we have Yasir who is a polite person
who always thinks about others and respects his elder. Things turn nasty for
his family due to some political decisions which involved his father and they
have to face a lot of problems. But then too his mother is very strong and
makes him comfortable and imbibes him with good values and makes him confident
too. A lot of happens in between for Anirudh and Yasir and destiny has already
made her plans for them and Anirudh somehow makes an entry into Yasir’s life. How
does the story end for Yasir and Anirudh? To know more read The Worlds That Met
in Bollywood.
My Thoughts:
The plot of the book is well
developed. There are two stories going alongside one is of Anirudh and the
other of Yasir. Author has done excellently brought the two stories together and
finally we get to see how Anirudh gets to make an entry into Yasir’s life.
The characters are well developed
and totally relatable. The journey of Anirudh and Yasir from childhood to
adulthood is worth seeing and there’s a lot to learn from the mistakes they
made. I loved the fact that the author has showed how these characters are
totally opposite to each other but the only common thing they have is their
love for bollywood.
The language is simple and lucid.
The book cover is nicely done and
somewhat reflects the story plot. The title of the book is nice but can be
misleading. After reading the title I thought the plot to something else but it
turned out to be something very different.
Overall, I can say that it was a
good book and I enjoyed it a lot and would surely recommend it to all.
My Rating: 4/5
