Stories of Us
Author: Bobby Sachdeva
Pages: 244
‘Stories
of Us’ by Bobby Sachdeva is a collection of 41 short stories that revolves
around various issues that we face in our day to day life. We get to read on
topics like superstition, Demonetization, human thinking process and his
tendency, etc. While reading the stories they made me contemplate on how
everything actually revolves around us we hardly ever think about what consequences
others would have to face and usually mistreat others too. The author has also
shown us how we blindly follow some myths and believe some god men blindly and
don’t question the logic behind some customs which were followed by the
society. To know more read ‘Stories of Us’.
Some
of my favourite stories are as follows:
·
Notebandi
·
The
Small Man
·
Dinner
Date
·
Property
·
Horoscope
·
Nirvana
My Thoughts:
The plot is well
developed and the author has put forth some questions which will actually allow
the readers to reflect on what they actually thought about the stories and if
they can actually relate to them in their real life. The questioning part is
the best because it will surely make the readers ponder and might also make
some of us even change our thought process and behave in a righteous manner.
The characters are
well developed and thought provoking. They are totally relatable as we
ourselves have these qualities or have encountered people who are similar to
them. I must say that the author has done a wonderful job of portraying
realistic characters.
The cover page is very creative and relates to the stories. The title
of the book is also apt as all the stories.
Language is simple and lucid.
Overall, I totally loved reading this book and would recommend it to
all.
