‘The Freedom of Being Human’by Rabjot Singh Isher is a book which revolves around Tejas, Yanchit, Dvita, Anhiti and Avinash. The book is mostly about Tejas and his belief in Religion and Spirituality opposite to him is Yanchit who is non-religious and has views that are completely opposite to that of Tejas. We get to see how our characters Tejas and Yanchit had faced a lot of struggle in life. Also we get to see Tejas strives to find the true meaning of spirituality. Each character have their own stories and will surely leave a great impact on the readers. To know more read The Freedom of Being Human.

My Opinion:

At first I would like to tell the readers that the book has a deep meaning just as the title suggests. The author has really done great research and has successfully made his point that caste is just made by man. And Caste and Spirituality as two different things and one definitely has the right to practice his or her spirituality.

Characters are well developed and I liked Tejas’s Mother. She is a very strong woman who even after going through such tough / rough days is determined to teach her kids and make them independent. While reading the book I felt the author has done an excellent job in showing the struggles and how the characters deal with them successfully without giving up on life.

The plot is very well thought and will teach the readers a lesson which will be imbibed in their mind for life. The plot is written in such a way that we get to know that we as humans have to keep our hopes high and not give up easily. We should also keep in mind that there are people who don’t have amenities that we have some people are struggling with their lives and we should always thank God to give us one more day.

The book is written in a simple language but at times the reader might have to re-read a few lines to actually get the true meaning of what the author is trying to say. The pace of the book is also good.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and would surely recommend this book to all.

My Rating: 4.5/5
