Pralay - The Great Deluge | Book Review
Pralay – The Great Deluge
Author: Vineet Bajpai
Pages: 315
‘Pralay –
The Great Deluge’ is a historical, mythological and fantasy book and is a
sequel to ‘Harappa – Curse of the Blood River’. The Harappa Series is a story which
revolves around Vidyut Shastri, a young man who is the last devta on Earth and is keen on solving the
mystery behind the lost city of Harappa and is totally unaware of the
challenges that lay ahead.
An organization named ‘New World Order’ is keen on
killing Vidyut and to achieve this they have hired the services of two evil
souls - the feared Italian Mafiosa, Maschera Bianca and the most diabolical
tantric, Trijat Kapaalik. As Vidyut moves ahead in the journey of revealing the
conspiracy of the evils he is unknowingly drawn into a fierce battle which
might even end his life along with his well-wishers.
Will Vidyut be able to gear up for the challenge and overcome them? To know
more read Pralay – The Great Deluge.
The book has
a lot of characters all-powerful and who
have their own powerful characteristics be it Vidyut Shastri the last devta or
Vivaswan Pujari – The Great Surya of Harappa. Then there is Dwarka Shastri –
the Great Matthadeesh of the Dev-Rakshasa Matth. The readers will get to see a
variety of characters but they are not confusing at all as they have been
described in detail in the first book of the series.
The plot of
the book is exciting and will keep the reader on edge and want to know what
happens next. The story takes us from Harappa of the 1700 BCE to the Council of
Nicaea of 325 AD and finally to Banaras of 2017. The author has covered
geographical locations from Harappa a land of the noble people who always abide by the rules to the cold dry lands of the
Northern mountains to the areas across Hindukush and finally to the present day
Rome. The author has done an excellent job of describing the setting
beautifully and in detail. I would definitely like to put it down that the
author has done his research
I loved the
writing style of the author; it keeps the reader hooked right from the
beginning and keeps the readers on edge. Each page has a new twist to offer to
the reader. We also get to know how our traditions were evolved. I have
actually fallen in love with this whole series and can’t wait to get my hands
on Kashi – Secret of the Black Temple. Overall, it is a very good book and a
delight to read and would surely recommend Pralay to all my friends and
everyone who is interested in reading mythological book.
My Rating: 5/5
